Artist statement
Art makes me feel as if I have a voice;

A voice that speaks of feelings, colours, truths.
I create art because it allows me to express myself in ways I cannot put into words! Art can invoke a sense of freedom from anything weighing us down! It can loudly make itself heard!

I create art to let feelings out, to calm my soul as well as vocalise what I see, and to make connections with people through art. I want my sculptures to evoke emotion and be thought provoking!

I take my inspiration from my life, my life as a mother, a woman, the connections I make and see in the world around me, as well as my love of nature and my interest in the human form and mythology.

For me glass is a mesmerising medium to work with. It has a beauty and harshness, it can be fragile and yet strong, transparent and yet reflect. Glass can also be volatile and unpredictable, but it is the unpredictability that I find fascinating if not sometimes frustrating, taking on a life of its own to evolve into something new and exciting!

I work with glass through kiln formed techniques such as lost-wax casting and sand-casting. Adding metals and inclusions to create different effects and experiment with texture. With so much more to learn and explore with this beautiful medium going forward.

I hope to grow with this fascinating medium and keep discovering new and different ways to express myself through my creations.
